I don’t even know if Croatia qualified this time around, but who cares! They look like picnic baskets! Tee hee!

United States of America

You didn’t seriously I think I forgot about our boys did you? I mean, I DID dedicate a post to this at some juncture already. Our garb is clean and classy. WHO DAT? WHO DAT SAY THEY GONNA BEAT DEM SAINTS?

Yes, that phrase is still considered English, and it is the rallying cry of freshly minted undefeated juggernauts, the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints are legit. With my fantasy football boyfriend Drew Brees leading the charge accompanied by a beastly running attack and inspired defense, this could very well be an epic season.

What better way to embrace this than with some local team gear? The iconic fleur-de-lis AND the Batman logo? All that’s missing is a set of exposed Mardi Gras bosoms to complete the cycle of awesome.

To a new-found NFL fan living in Los Angeles, fandom doesn’t come easy. I have no team to identify with but collegiate USC, and only because I am bedding a Trojan. This leaves me as a highly coveted free agent fan. Brees is my fantasy keeper, Reggie Bush is a local hero, and this team stands for all that is good (maybe?). I am officially pledging my allegiance, donning said shirt, and finally embracing the fandom I have yearned for.

Feeling patriotic? You damn well better be, cuz our boys on the U.S. Men’s National Team sit atop the qualifying tables and are poised to make a splash in next summer’s 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

We are currently witnessing the emergence of a soccer power. With Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, and Charlie Davies leading the charge, the Americans are definitely a fun bunch to watch who can play with the best of them, just as they did against Spain and Brazil in the Confederations Cup.

The excitement is building, and our boys need the support, so what better way to show it than to head over to the soccer shop to outfit yourself with some gear to cheer them on?

Crisp, classy jerseys for a crisp, classy team. Unless Dempsey goes nuts and takes a swing at you, that is. Then at least they’re still good looking jerseys. And if you don’t fancy a jersey, then just consider a USMNT t-shirt. For the record, I’m glad that in the States, we can make such differentiations between soccer jerseys and soccer shirts, not using 3 different words (kit, as well) to describe one article of clothing.

Is it just me, or are soccer jerseys getting brighter and louder these days? Well, maybe not fashionable in the traditional seen-on-the-runway Dolce & Gabana fashion sense, but certainly eye-catching and different. And the more I look at them, the more I like them.

For example, check out this Adidas Chelsea away jersey:

First and foremost, it’s a far cry from the traditional Chelsea jersey. While solid blue is a classic, the new away jersey is different and refreshing. I was initially not a fan of the stripes (self conscious fatness?), but they have since grown on me. The neon accents are what make this kit though. It gives it the right amount of personality, but not too much to the point where it’s as obnoxious as some goalkeeper garb.

Chelsea FC aren’t the only club to try and make a fashionable splash with their soccer jerseys. Behold the away kit of Everton FC:

Borderline metrosexual until you realize that you are in fact wearing a soccer jersey (but hopefully not sporting a Euro mullet with it). Yes, pink is prevalent. But fear not, no one would dare make fun of you while you were supporting your favorite club.

Bottom line: the bright, neon colors in both the Chelsea and Everton kits are awesome. If you’re like me and aren’t hip or slim enough (early morning match day pints are detrimental to one’s waistline) to fit into any of the ridiculous neon offerings at American Apparel, then you too should get behind this movement so us common sports fans can pretend to be fashionable.

Oh how it pained me to sell this shirt. Don’t know why I put it up on eBay in the first place. I even had someone bid to win for me so I wouldn’t have to sell it. But alas, someone else stepped in and recognized the power of this shirt and made it their own. It will just have to live on in my heart and in this blog post.

Just take that in for a second.

That someone, of course, is none other than Undefeated. If you’ve never been a sneakerhead, you probably don’t know what this means. Undefeated is one of the most well-known shoe boutiques in the world. Kicks aside though, they do put out fresh designs to boot.

Finally gonna get around to posting some more of these. I have a strong affinity for sports-related t-shirts and various garb. In the past, I have posted other gear I have seen online, but now I’m dipping into my own private stash.

Was cleaning out the closet a few months back, taking inventory, doing the eBay thing, and came across this shirt.

Got this one from Undefeated on La Brea – I’m sure many of you know them for their kicks, limited edition madness, etc… Dudes can come up with some good shirt designs too though.

Front of the shirt features a happy-go-lucky Don King. Color scheme was what sold me on it originally, I think. The back featured the following quote, which I for whatever reason no longer have a picture of:

Martin Luther King took us to the mountain top: I want to take us to the bank.

I sure helped them get to the bank as well. Undefeated’s shirts don’t run cheap. But at least I managed to recoup some of the cash on eBay.

There was a shot on TNT of Jack Nicholson wearing this Kobe Bryant MVP t-shirt made by Nike last night:

I immediately decided that I had to have it, but after about 20 minutes of frantic Googling and NBA Store browsing, I was left empty handed.
