On January 31, 2009, Kobe Bryant began his campaign for a second straight NBA MVP award. It happened after an early drive to the basket, a crouch of concern, and an unleashing of the most lethal force ever seen in the NBA.
An angry Kobe is a man possessed.
On February 2, 2009, Kobe Bryant became the front runner for a second straight NBA MVP award. Funny how a 61-point outburst at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks can do that for you.
The Los Angeles Lakers will undoubtedly miss the presence of Andrew Bynum. Their defense will suffer and teams will invariably push them around a bit more in the paint. Look for even more points to be dropped on them, but look for them to drop just as many points back. Kobe is mad.

That’s right. Mamba is gonna wreck dudes harder the rest of the year than Bana wrecked his wife in that movie. Kobe has to feel remorseful, seeing as how he was the one who landed on Bynum. Lamar Odom was the culprit last year, but we all know he’s not going on any such tears, so its all on Kobe.
Breaking Michael Jordan‘s old 55-point “double nickel” record at MSG was just the beginning. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a string of defensive-shredding 40+ point games. The reigning Most Valuable Player just crowned himself again.
