UCLA’s Kevin Love was selected with the fifth overall pick of the NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies.
Fitting, considering he spent his collegiate time as a Bruin and is now a Grizzlie. Does this mean he will go from the more cutesy-imaged UCLA mascot to the fiercer Memphis symbol? Is a Grizzlie even fiercer than a Bruin?
Either way, he’s showing that he wants to succeed, already shedding some pounds in an attempt to boost his draft stock. Seems like it paid off.
I wonder how it bodes with him playing near the university that knocked him out of the NCAA tournament. Perhaps he turns it up a notch to stick it to’em? Does he get run out of town and get jeered?
In any case, he may just be ecstatic over the prospect of general manager Chris Wallace potentially sending him to a contender in another lop-sided deal. I can only hope that he gets packaged to the Denver Nuggets for Chucky Atkins and future considerations, thus being reunited with his twin, Linas Kleiza.
